The second floor contains our three guest bedrooms each with its original coal-burning fireplace and mantel, now converted to natural gas. The fireplaces provide beauty, ambiance, and heat when desired by our guests. These bedrooms have been restored over the past several years each with its own private bathroom. Each room has been restored with crown molding and appears today much as it did in 1881.

Garden

The Pleasants Rose Mansion Inn Bed & Breakfast is located on the banks of the Ohio River overlooking the verdant farmland of Kentucky across the river. The mansion was beautifully sited by its builder to have panoramic views of the river’s activity. The covered front porch with its wooden swing, rockers, and gliders creates the perfect relaxing spot to take in this picturesque view. The gardens surrounding the Inn contain roses, azaleas, rhododendrons, and a variety of flowering plants and bushes. The majestic aged tulip poplar, maple, and ash trees each over 80 feet tall grace the lawn of this lovely site overlooking the river.

Grand Entryway

Grand Entryway

The Grand Entry was designed to impress all who entered through the finely etched glass and oak front doors. The rich woodwork, and double brass light fixtures date back to the 1880’s.

Grand Stairwell

Grand Stairwell

The grand stairway accentuated by a beautiful stained glass window is solid walnut, and has retained its original patina through the years.

Parlor Room

Parlor Room

There are two parlors downstairs adjacent to the grand hallway entry. The woodwork in these parlors consists of both Tiger and Birdseye maple. The chandeliers hanging in both parlors are original to the home, and were lit by kerosene. In order to light these chandeliers you would have pulled them down to approximately waist height. The glass contain-ers would then have been filled, the wick lit, and chandeliers then pushed back into position.
